About Me

R. A. Moreau has been a lover of all things fantasy since her early years, and what began as a passion quickly turned into a profession when she started creating the stories she wished to see on her shelf.

Moreau focuses her work on black and brown romances in fantastical settings of every variety. She hopes that by sharing her work, more women will have the opportunity to see themselves in the stories they love.

When she isn’t working, she loves spending time with her two dogs in her Colorado home and eating more bread than any healthcare professional would recommend.

FAQ

Is Moreau my real name?

No, Moreau is a pen name. I selected it because it fit with my own personal heritage and my writing mission. My birth name is French in origin and 'moreau' is a French term historically used to describe a person of darker complexion. Considering I am a black woman writing black characters, it seemed like a perfect fit!

Why do I write?

Most authors will answer this question as follows: "I write for myself." Which, to an extent is true, but I also write for people like myself. People who don't see themselves in the books they like and people who are tired of rewriting the story to imagine a character that looks like them.

Do I only write stories for black people?

No, my stories are for everyone! I encourage people to diversify their shelves as much as possible. Anyone can read and enjoy my work.

What's my favorite animated film?

If you made it this far down the list, congrats! Disney's The Princess and the Frog wins this category hands down. The music, the vibes, the culture! "Chef's Kiss*
